Building an online business can become a prison of your own making
Yesterday Vanessa Lau announced that she’s taking an indefinite sabbatical. She will not update her accounts for the unforeseeable future.
She has built a very successful online business but it turns out she hates it.
I’m not surprised it came to this. There have been signs through the years. And it’s a good warning for other creators.
Sometimes the conversation pops up with different big content creators. Why would you want to grow as big as possible? Isn’t the point of what you are doing to create more freedom? With a big operation, you risk getting stuck in a new rat race of your own making.
So the takeaway is:
Set a financial goal and resist the urge to aim higher. Because at some point your dreams will become a greedy dream that society created, not you.
